Engineers asked to gain expertise in technology every day

The IFET College of Engineering in Gangarampalayam conducted its 14{+t}{+h}graduation day on April 3 in the IFET campus. Dr. S. Ganesan, registrar of Anna University, Chennai, delivered the Graduation Day address. He awarded the degrees certificates and medals to 28 university rank holders.

In his graduation day address, Mr. Ganesan appreciated the parents, students and college management for their support to the students to achieve their dream of becoming an engineering graduate. He stressed the need for more rural students to enter this field. He asked the students to use the technological developments of this era to make the world a better place, without poverty and unemployment.

He also advised the students to make history rather than leading a normal life and to be graduated everyday by gaining experience in technology.

The function was presided over by K.V. Raja, Chairman. K. Shivram Alva welcomed the gathering and A. Mohammed Ilyas, Vice Chairman, delivered the vote of thanks. G. Mahendran, Principal and S. Matilda, Vice Principal participated in the event. A total of 554 graduates received their degree certificates.

BEST PERFORMING INSTITUTION IN IET’16

The Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology, Puducherry, has been adjudged as the best performing institution in a State-level paper presentation contest “Innovation of Engineering and Technology – 2016.”

The award has been presented for the engineering and diploma students related to engineering and technology which is organised by recruitment analysis council (RAC) at the Hindustan University, Chennai, on March 19.

This initiative gave opportunities for the students to showcase their talents, research orientations and untapped potentials. More than 300 innovative ideas were registered out of which 100 ideas were shortlisted for the finals. The final year engineering students, Rahul Rajiv and Vijayalakshmi presented the paper titled ‘Automatic Traffic Control System and Accident Alert,’ which has been selected as the best innovative idea in the finals.

For their presentation, RAC awarded the best performing institution.

MEET ON SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGIES

A two-day national conference on ‘Sustainable Modern Advances in Research and Technology – SMART – 2016’ was held at Dr. Paul’s Engineering College on March 23 and 24. The chief guest PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss said that students should update themselves with the rapid changes in technology so that be equipped to compete with confidence.

S. Sureender, Managing Director, Flavors India Private Ltd, Puducherry, said that every engineer should become a smart engineer by using smart technologies.

P. Dananjayan, Professor and Dean, Pondicherry Engineering College, underlined that modern technology has had adverse impact on the environment.

“It is the need of the hour to make new techniques which can sustain for long period of time without compromising on quality and cost,” he said.

The conference was attended by faculty members, research scholars and post graduate students from various state universities like New Delhi, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. At least 400 papers were received, reviewed and 325 papers were selected for presentation.

Marudhar Kesari Jain College for Women organised a faculty meet on “Make in India – Rural Development” recently. G. Chandramouli, chairman of Southern State Khadi and Village Industries Commission took part.

He highlighted the need for innovative ideas among Indian students, especially women, a press release said.
