Deputies: Man solicited teenage girl through social media apps

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Florida man is facing charges in Leon County, accused of sending sexually explicit messages to a teenage girl.

47-year-old Richard Confer, of St. Augustine, was taken into custody on Thursday following an investigation by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.

LCSO says in December 2018, the victim told her mother that Confer, who is related to the family through marriage, had been sending her messages through the social media applications Snapchat and Instagram for over year.

Investigators took over the victim’s social media accounts and began to communicate with Confer, posing as the teenage girl.

According to arrest documents, Confer repeatedly asked the detective posing as the victim to take sexually suggestive images of herself and “practice” in order to prepare herself for when they were together and had sex.

The sheriff’s office says Confer also sent multiple pictures of his genitals and suggested paying the victim $100 to perform oral sex.

Confer has been charged with using a computer to solicit a child under 16 and five counts of transmitting harmful material to a minor.
