Fischer named dean of education at St. Scholastica

Brenda Fischer has been named dean of the College of St. Scholastica’s School of Education.

She replaces Jo Olsen, who retired after serving in the position for 11 years.

Fischer earned a doctor of education in teaching and learning from the University of Minnesota. She previously served as chairwoman of the education school’s undergraduate programs and the Elementary Education Degree Completion program on St. Scholastica’s St. Paul campus, of which she oversaw the development.

She also oversaw the development of the Academic Behavior Strategist license program to help address the shortage of special education teachers in Minnesota and elsewhere. She begins her position Aug. 1.
