New LG G4 Smartphone Upgrades Camera and Adds Luxury

LG has just unveiled its newest smartphone, the LG G4.

The successor of the G3 is boasting some nice upgrades from it’s predecessor. A beefed up camera and real leather back are some of the changes customers can expect to see.

In fact, one of the biggest upgrades on the LG G4 from the previous model is the phone’s 16MP camera. LG claims the G4’s camera has a Color Spectrum Sensor (CSS) to improve color accuracy, shoots pictures in RAW (an alternative to JPEG), and has a F1.8 aperture lens to allow 80 percent more light to hit the image sensor.

To top it off, the LG G4 camera has manual control so more advanced photographers can control features such as shutter speed.

And, yes, the G4 will be featuring a genuine leather back that comes in six colors. LG says the leather exterior is hand-crafted and vegetable tanned to be environmentally friendly and easily recycled. If leather is not up your alley, there will also be three plastic options in Ceramic White, Metallic Grey, or Shiny Gold.

It is disappointing that these other options are not actually metal, though.

For “fashionable elegance,” as LG puts it, the G4 also features a subtle curvature for comfort and strength. LG claims the curved body offers 20 percent better durability from a face down drop than a flat smartphone. The curve is said to also offer a more comfortable hold.

The LG G4 has a 5.5 inch IPS Quantum display that LG claims is the first Quad HD display to employ Advanced In-Cell Touch technology. It also offers better color reproduction and touch sensitivity, the company says.

The LG G4 uses Android 5.1 OS, has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with X10 LTE, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal memory. The G4 will also sport an expandable microSD slot for added storage. Google Office comes pre-installed and customers will receive an additional 100GB of Google Drive storage free for two years with purchase of the phone.

LG is rolling out its new smartphone today April 29, starting in Korea. However, the company has provided no pricing details for release in the west. Carrier availability and pricing is to be announced locally in each market. Rumor has it the LG G4 should be arriving in the U.S. sometime at the end of May or beginning of June.
